The last few years haven’t really displayed the Phil Ivey of old. From the middle of 2014 into 2018, there was very little activity compared to, say, 10 years ago.

Now, we can see Ivey is back for sure. From the Triton series in Cyprus last August, where he scored a win and a second place, Ivey has started off the post-Covid era with a massive bang.

Phil Ivey back in top form

A fourth and a fifth place in a pair of $50,000 high rollers, for $387,100 and $179,000, was followed by an amazing win in a $75,000 short deck event, netting Ivey $1,170,000 for topping the 51-player field.

Phil Ivey now moves into the top 10 of the PokerGO leaderboard, currently led by Ali Imsirovic. The top 21 players on the list will be invited to a $500,000 freeroll event where the winner-takes-all.

Who knows what else Phil Ivey can achieve now that he’s fully back in business. There are still six more events left to run in Cyprus over the next week, including the $250,000 buy-in Super High Roller Bowl Europe.

This cluster of victories takes Phil Ivey back into the top 10 on the all-time winners list for live tournaments.

His $34,068,028 earnings total is still some way behind the $57 million totals of the top two, Bryn Kenney and Justin Bonomo, but with the G.O.A.T seemingly back on form we might be seeing the beginning of a resurgence in Phil Ivey’s career.
